Share your Commitment

What makes the day special? Being with your loved one and yes we know you might have spent the pass 3 weeks in quarantine with them, but remember, you are together! Here is your moment, right down your vows and share them now. If you decide to share those vows in bed wearing pajamas or dressed up with a candle light dinner, all that matters is you take time to share your commitment to each other.

Tip: Don’t forget to give your partner a heads up on taking time to write those vows out. After the vows have been shared, make sure to exchange the written copies to read later.

Plan a favorite meal

This might seem simple but taking the time to plan a meal that would of been served on your wedding day can make it special. You can even consider serving your favorite food as a couple. Order from your favorite local restaurant and splurge a bit with an appetizer, entree and dessert. We have even heard that wedding cake bakers are providing a mini cake called "Change the Date" as a way to have couples still celebrate their your wedding day.

Create your own Ceremony

Your new wedding date is not that far away but making the original date apart of your wedding plans can make it feel apart of the celebration. Plan part of your wedding ceremony just for the two of you to enjoy on your original wedding date. Let me explain, many couples add a traditional rose, sand or candle ceremony when they tie the knot. We suggest performing one of those traditional ceremonies on your original date.

Why not gently wrap a ribbon or special piece of material around your wrists, as your pulses touch it will be a symbol of your intention to "tie the knot" or be "bound in matrimony"! Just like the traditional hand fasting in the days before legal marriages. Search popular ceremony traditions such as, unity candle, unity sand, rose ceremony, wine exchange, unity tea, unity tree planting and the hand fasting ceremony to see which one fits you best.

Celebrate with Family

When you decided to get married and say “yes” to the ring, the next thing you thought about was sharing it with your close family and friends. These people are your rock, who have helped you plan every detail of your wedding. It only makes sense that you should allow them to keep their word and support you as a couple on your original wedding date too. It clearly can be from a distance;

  • Schedule a Zoom or Facetime call with family and friend groups

  • Theme your Zoom call as a cyber cocktail party- request a formal attire and the menu can comprised of anything lying around the house that could be turned into an acceptable meal

  • Share your Spotify wedding playlist with everyone to enjoy - don’t forget to dance with your loved one

  • Ask Family and Friends to write down advice (love) notes/email to be read on your original date

  • Ask your family to attend a drive by parade in front of your home with decorated cars and honking to express how much they love you and wish they could celebrate the day

Most importantly, don't let the day pass by unnoticed. If nothing else, make sure to take the ironic photo of you are your loved one wearing face mask to always remember the 2020 year.

You picked your original date for a reason so this should still be celebrated as a special day for the two of you.

Enjoy

XOXO
