The Arizona Bridal Show returns to the Phoenix Convention Center, South Building on Sunday, June 2. We will be there with 350+ vendors for you to connect with and lots to see and samples. We caught up with Wedding Planner Kim Horn to help you make the most of your visit to the show. Here's what Kim recommends:

1). Pre-register and purchase tickets in advance vs. waiting in lines the day of the show.

2). Download the BrideScan app, and build your profile. BrideScan allows you to scan potential wedding pros and brides you meet during a bridal show via QR code. No more sorting through business cards or writing your name, wedding date, and email address on their forms! BrideScan allows you to view the vendors by category (caterers, cakes, etc.).

3). Create a wedding email.

4). Know the show schedule (fashion shows, opening, and ending times) to plan your day. Shows normally are less busy the first hours of opening.

5). Bring the people involved in making major decisions for your wedding.

6). Take photos and video of everything you love.

7). Bring a reusable bag to carry hand-outs and samples.

8). Wear comfortable shoes since you will be walking and standing on your feet for hours.

9). Bring your calendar so you may book appointments.

10). Bring cash and your check book to take advantage of show discounts on site.

11). Bring your color swatches if you still need a designer, florist, and bakery.

12). Make a list of priorities of products and services you need the most.

13). Some vendors may be able to book one or two weddings a day which will make them book more quickly. Photographers, DJs, wedding planners, florists, and videographers may be examples of this vendor type. Other vendors may be able to book multiple weddings on the same day. Keep this in mind when organizing your priorities.

14). Stay until the end of the show, you may be able to have props which are leftover from the exhibitors.

Tips on Creating the Perfect Seating Chart

Catherine Johnson

Catherine Johnson

When it comes to reception decor, your wedding seating chart might be the most practical item but that doesn’t mean you can’t get creative with it! However, before you get creative on the design you’ll have to put your puzzle skills to use. A seating chart is about getting all the pieces in the right place to see the final grand piece. That is why today on the blog we are sharing our tips on creating your seating chart stress-free.

TIP #1: CONSIDER YOURSELVES

Are you planning to sit at a sweetheart table for just the two of you, or do you need to work yourselves into the seating chart? If a sweetheart table isn’t something you’ve considered, here’s why you might want to. If you do plan to sit at a main table at your reception, will it be with your family or your wedding party? These are all options you should discuss between yourselves, rather than making the decision solo.

TIP #2: CONSIDER YOUR GUESTS

Now that you have decided if you are seating with guest or not we can the process. The next step is simple, seat people together who know each other (or who should know each other, but don’t yet)! It can also be a good idea to check in with each other’s in-laws to avoid any accidental tension between family members you or your future spouse may not be aware of. Don’t forget about dates(plus ones) for your wedding party!

TIP #3: CONSIDER YOUR SPACE

Before you start grouping your loved ones, double check on the size of each table you will have access to at the venue. Each different table size comfortably fits a different number of guests. Most venues will have rounds of 60” (seats 10) or 48” (seats 8), however more and more places are having options of rectangle tables for guest to sit at, 6ft - seats 6 guest and 8ft seats 8 guest. Maybe even consider renting farm tables from to give your guest a unique option. (Check out https://theeventcoaz.com/ for farm table rentals)

TIP #4: BE PREPARED FOR CHANGE

No matter how perfectly you map out your seating chart, there are some things you can’t control. Most likely? A last-minute cancellation or plus-one addition. Write your seating chart in pencil, discuss any changes you foresee with your venue coordinator, then hand the chart off so you can focus on getting married! Changes happen and, for the most part, guests are willing to go with the flow — especially when they’re the ones responsible for game time shake-ups.

Enjoy,

XOXO
