When do I send my wedding invitations? You have, Save the Dates, RSVP and even Thank you Cards to think of sending, it can get overwhelming. However, today we are laying it out with a timeline on wedding stationary.  Here is what we think is best but if you are a bit late – no worries just get it out in the mail! Note we even have two timelines – we have out of town guest or destination wedding compared to your local peeps.

SAVE THE DATE

The Save the date gives your guest a friendly heads-up on when the wedding is taking place! They are not always necessary, but it’s great for guest planning vacations, work, school, etc.

INVITATIONS

It’s important to remember to send invitations out early to your out of town guest so they have time to line up travel plans. If you are sending RSVP it’s even more important you send out earlier (7-8 week mark) to your local guest to have enough time to drop the RSVP in the mail. Plus it will help you later when trying to track down the guest count.

Destination 3-4 months

Local 4-8 weeks

RSVP DEADLINE

Your RSVP deadline will depend on how much lead time your wedding professional needs – the FINAL GUSET COUNT. Typically you are looking at two weeks prior to wedding date.  Give yourself some wiggle room to allow time to call guest you have not heard back from before you give the final count.

Destination 3-5 weeks

Local 2-3 weeks

THANK YOUS

Believe it or not, you’ll start receiving gifts before you even walk down the aisle! Guests who aren’t able to attend the wedding will send gifts prior to the wedding date. Do yourself a favor and send thank you cards immediately. It will help later when trying to remember who sent one and when you have a large pile after the wedding.  Once you’re back from the honeymoon, get those Thank you cards done- remember no later than four weeks after the wedding.

Remember the goal is to get your wedding stationary done within the time frame. Obviously the earlier the better but set yourself up by day one of engagement by starting to collect  addresses and from both wedding sides - spread sheets make everything easier!

Here are out top 5 duties:

1.       Formalwear – It goes without saying that you’re going to have to look your best on the wedding day. The cost in purchasing or renting your formal attire for is up to the groomsmen

2.       Pre-Wedding - Attend all pre-wedding events, such as the engagement party, wedding shower, rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.

3.       3. Bachelor Party- help the best man plan and pay for the bachelor party. This can include offering ideas, researching, and booking flights and the hotel.

4.       Wedding Day Prep -In most cases, the groomsmen meet the groom at one central location to relax and get ready together.

5.       Party Starters- At the beginning of the wedding reception, you’ll be introduced, along with a bridesmaid. After you have fun taking center stage, it will be your job to keep the party going throughout the evening. If guest see that you’re having fun on the dance floor, it’s most likely they will join in too!
